Grantham University was founded in 1951 by WWII Veteran Donald Grantham, whose desire was to help fellow veterans improve their lives through higher education. Today, Mr. Grantham's vision and philosophy on quality distance learning remain the driving force behind our success.
As a 100% online university serving a highly diverse student population, Grantham believes education should enhance your life – not get in the way of it. That’s why everything we do, every single day, is centered on our students – minimizing potential obstacles and maximizing quality learning.
You do your part by working hard to earn your degree. And we do ours by providing you an exceptional Grantham experience that leads to an even more amazing career.
As part of the traditional college and university movement of the late 20th Century, the school that would become Grantham University was founded in 1951 with a main campus in Southern California. As interest in our degree programs grew beyond campus boundaries, the college developed distance-education programs to serve a geographically dispersed student body.
Since 1961, Grantham University has been continuously accredited by the Distance Education Accrediting Commission (DEAC). All programs of instruction offered by Grantham have been examined by independent objective subject matter experts and have been found to meet or exceed the Accrediting Commission’s published academic and ethical standards.
DEAC was founded in 1926 and is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Like the regional accrediting agencies, DEAC undergoes reviews by the Department of Education to make certain that it meets the criteria for federal recognition as published in Title 34 of the Code of Federal Regulations. This criteria is the same for national accrediting agencies and regional agencies.
Grantham University is approved and legally authorized to provide postsecondary education by the Kansas Board of Regents, the authority by which Grantham confers degrees.
Grantham University is registered by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) as an Out of State Institution under the California Private Postsecondary Education Act of 2009.
